The Zé Kleber tables – an annual tribute by Flip to the poet and writer who was a kind of cultural ambassador for Paraty between the 1960s and 1980s – always feature people who are connected with the municipality and region as a starting point for conversations. This time, the guest is Jorge Ferreira, from Paraty, who grew up on his parents' farm, in the middle of the forest, where the family's food was taken from. Soon he learned, as a kind of inheritance, to observe the backyard with the eyes of a botanist, thus starting his scientific studies autonomously. At this table, Jorge is joined by mycologist Merlin Sheldrake, author of "Entangled Life: How Fungi Make Our Worlds, Change Our Minds & Shape Our Futures", so that they can stroll – albeit virtually – through the Atlantic Forest in search of the mushrooms that inhabit it. If, as Sheldrake attests, life in the world originates from the network of fungi, in close connection with plants, what do the Nhe’éry species reveal about the future of the territory?”
